Lino Print Self Portrait

For my latest edition in my printmaking class I choose to do a lino self portrait. Until know I haven't really drawn or printed something of myself and I thought this would be the perfect week for it. This was probably the fastest edition that i have made to date. I got the picture drawn on the lino on Wednesday night and on Thursday I carved it out and began printing!

My favorite thing about this is the background and how it make the print ten times better. I also really like how my hair turned out. So far I have about 7 or 8 prints made and I will finish up printing on Monday.

Im really sad that its the end of the year because that means that I'll be done with printmaking. I hope that I can at least draw out these last few weeks and make at least one more edition!

I really like how the background is still visible through the black ink.

Finishing Up

This week I finished my phonograph prints!! They turned out really good, way beter then I had thought they would, which is always good. I also have been looking for a new project to start for next week.

For me, this is the hardest part of having printmaking as an independent study because I have to come up with everything on my own and I never have the slightest idea of what to do next. Some ideas that have crossed my mind have included cardboard reduction prints, another lino print, or a comdination of the sorts. I just need to thing of what I want the print to be of.

Having nothing in mind for my next project I have been searching for insperation on the internet. One site that I stumbled upon that helped me a lot and was http://www.printeresting.org/ . I found this site a few weeks ago and it is really awesome. The site shows so many unique and creative printmaking works and is brimming with insperation.
